From the Skyline Lounge at Plymouth Place, the view stretches across treetops turning gold and crimson to Chicago’s iconic silhouette — a fitting backdrop for a conversation about growth, connection, and stewardship. That shared sense of purpose is what brought Plymouth Place and Go Green Greater La Grange (GGGL) together. What began as a simple idea between neighbors has blossomed into an ongoing partnership rooted in education, collaboration, and care for the planet.
“It actually happened pretty organically,” said Alexandria Zuck, president of GGGL. “When Dave Bryant — one of our founders who’s also a resident here — came to Plymouth Place, he found a community already excited to promote environmental ideas. From there, we started dreaming together about what was possible.”
Those dreams have taken shape through events like the Go Green Expo, hosted on the Plymouth Place campus, where hundreds of residents and neighbors gathered to share ideas on sustainability. “You could just feel the energy,” said Stephen Baker, Vice President of GGGL. “It was shoulder to shoulder, buzzing with people and ideas.”
For CEO Jay Biere, the partnership is a natural extension of Plymouth Place’s values. “Our residents grew up in an era when resources were meant to be conserved,” he said. “Stewardship and giving back have always been part of who we are. Partnering with Go Green builds on that legacy.”
That legacy is easy to spot across the grounds — from Plymouth Place’s ArbNet Accreditation to naturalized water features that help purify runoff. And through GGGL’s outreach efforts, like the Pollinator Plant Sale planned by Lyons Township High School interns, new generations are learning what sustainability looks like in action.
“We couldn’t do anything without our partners,” Zuck added. “Every opportunity we bring to the community happens because of collaboration. When organizations like Plymouth Place open their doors, it reminds us what’s possible when people work together.”
As Biere reflected, “We talk about leaving a legacy, but really we’re building it right now.”
