Update 6.9.2020

June 9, 2020

Plymouth Place™ Friends and Family,

This past week was another blend of ups and downs; moments of celebration intertwined with periods of sadness. While we proudly welcomed more recoveries from this virus, we also identified a few additional active cases among residents and team members. Per our protocols, residents are immediately transitioned to our on-site Dedicated Isolation Unit for observation while team members self-quarantine at their respective homes.

Most significantly, we lost a beloved member of the Plymouth Place family to this illness, a loss that strikes at the heart of our community. We grieve with their family and loved ones; their memory, and the impact they had on those of us who live and work here, won’t be soon forgotten.

As we mentioned last week, we continue to aggressively pursue this virus through regular testing and contact tracing, particularly with team members. We’ve also instituted weekly testing of all residents and staff in our Health Care Center. This will continue to be a concerted focus of ours in the coming weeks and likely months.

As you may have seen through recent media coverage, while parts of Illinois have begun to ease restrictions, Governor Pritzker has been clear this does not include communities like ours. We understand how difficult it’s been for residents and families these last few months. I know I speak for everyone here when I say we can’t wait to welcome friends and guests back to our campus – but only when medical experts at the CDC and IDPH advise it’s safe and responsible to do so.

With safety in mind, as part of our Plymouth Place StoryCorps series, Katie Freese, our Senior Director of Support Services, and Mike Ross, our Security Manager, recently discussed our comprehensive security measures. The safety and well-being of residents and team members has always been priority for us, well before this pandemic started and well after we defeat it.

As always, thank you for all the continued feedback and well-wishes we’ve received from inside and outside the community. Your strength feeds our spirit, and together we’ll get through this.

Stay safe and stay well,

Jay Biere
President/CEO
