Update 7.1.2020

July 1, 2020

Plymouth Place™ Friends and Family,

As we turn the page on another month, we’re delighted to report that we have no active resident cases of COVID-19 at this time. This speaks volumes of the sacrifices our residents have made, and the unwavering commitment of our professionals.

We do still have some COVID-positive team members quarantined at their respective homes, but we’re optimistic they’ll join the list of recoveries in the not-so-distant future. Our focus in the coming weeks and months will be to maintain this trend – quickly identify and isolate any potential carriers and limit exposure to the larger Plymouth Place community.

Regular routine testing will continue, particularly for residents and team members in our Health Care Center (HCC). Of course, additional testing will be available as needed and under close guidance from experts at the CDC, CMS and IDPH.

As Illinois enters Phase 4 of its statewide reopening plan, and we cautiously move ahead with Phase One of our strategy, it’s imperative we don’t give in to complacency. The prudent measures that should now be engrained in all of us – social distancing, proper use of masks and other PPE, and frequent hand washing – are more important than ever before.

For HCC residents, health authorities continue to adjust their directives specific to outdoor visits. Right now, the earliest date we’ll begin to schedule outdoor visits is Monday, July 13, with the expectation this may be pushed back further. Unfortunately, the wait time for test results across the state has risen exponentially, which has contributed to a delay in these plans. For now, we’re diligently preparing for these visits, which includes establishing an online visitors’ registration program that will allow HCC families to arrange their visit quickly and efficiently.

Last week, I had the pleasure to participate in a virtual discussion with Dr. James Discipio, Mayor of LaGrange Park, where we addressed the latest in the village. Dr. DiScipio was even kind enough to respond to questions from some of our residents. I know those of us in the Plymouth Place family greatly appreciate his information and insight, and that from our other local elected officials.

As we prepare to celebrate the Fourth this weekend with a drive-by parade, patriotic costume contest, scavenger hunt and other outdoor activities, we’re excited to include our new putting green, which we recently unveiled. We hope that each of you find an opportunity to relax, unwind and responsibly enjoy festivities, whatever that may be for you and your family.

If you’d like to participate in the parade or need any support with virtual communication in advance of Saturday, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Our team will prioritize requests this week.

Stay safe and stay well,

Jay Biere
President/CEO
